The Power Of One – Project & Customer Profile: Main Line Health / Paoli Hospital

Part of the Main Line Health System, Paoli Hospital serves the medical needs of Chester County. In an effort to better serve their growing community, Paoli Hospital doubled it’s size, by constructing a new four-story 281,000 square foot patient care pavilion into an active hospital environment. Hatzel & Buehler and Bluestone Communications worked as part of the Hospital’s Southwest Pavilion Expansion project, which added a larger, more modern emergency department; a surgical suite with fourteen operating rooms and the latest technology; 126 private patient rooms, critical care areas, diagnostic suites and a contemporary arrival and lobby area.

Hatzel & Buehler completed the electrical power distribution for the new pavilion. Overall scope of work included installation of transformers, sub-stations, switchboards, motor control centers, two 1250 KW generators and 170 electrical panels located throughout the new pavilion. Hatzel & Buehler also installed 65,000 feet of conduit and 350,000 feet of electrical cable to power all of the new equipment included in the expansion project.

Within the facilities, Bluestone was responsible for the coordination and installation of low voltage systems, including voice and data, wireless voice, physiological monitoring, telemetry, PACS, CCTV/Security, CCTV/Patient Monitoring, Card Access, Audio Visual, Patient Tracking, Duress/Panic Buttons, Pocket Pager System, Zetron System and the D.O.H. Radio System. Bluestone was responsible for the new infrastructure as well as the backbone TIE cabling to the existing systems, which were part of the active hospital.
