The Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) contracted Lockheed Martin for the production, integration, testing and engineering support services for the land-based ‘Aegis Ashore’ missile defense program.   A four story deckhouse of approximately 25,000 square feet, similar to those used on Aegis ships, was constructed along with a 4,100 square foot support building.  The land-based system is designed for complete assembly and disassembly to support worldwide deployment of a fully integrated and tested Aegis Weapon System (AWS).

Hatzel & Buehler was awarded the electrical work for the project which included furnishing and installing electrical distributions systems, lighting, cable tray, fire alarm, security and lightning protection systems.  All work was completed against an aggressive timeline, in order to comply with pre-scheduled testing and deployment.
