Capital Health System built a new hospital in Hopewell Township, New Jersey to replace the old Mercer Campus. The new state-of-the-art center includes a 540,000 square foot six-story patient tower and a five-story atrium connected to a 320,000 square foot six-story Medical Office building that will house physician offices.

Hatzel & Buehler was awarded multiple contracts at this location, including the Site Work contract for underground electrical, providing layout, coordination and installation of duct banks for new 26kV switchyard and Central Utility Plant.  The electrical fitout contracts for both the Hospital and Medical Office Building included furnishing and installing branch power, systems and lighting, with special attention given to patient rooms, laboratories, and support areas. Included in the scope of work was the detailed installation of Operating, MRI, CT Simulator & Scan, Radiographic, Linac and Cyberknife Rooms. Hatzel & Buehler also received the contracts for the Nurse Call Stations in both buildings.  Hatzel & Buehler worked alongside their Telecommunications subsidiary, Bluestone Communications, who managed the low-voltage scope of work in both buildings, as well as installed an In-Building Wireless System (DAS).

As a requirement of this project, our Engineering Department utilized BIM (Building Information Modeling) drawings to identify potential installation conflicts with other trades.
