Temple University is a public research university with more than 36,000 students located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  The Ritter Annex Building and Ritter Hall house the College of Education and the School of Social Work.

Hatzel & Buehler performed lighting retrofitting and lighting controls of ten floors of the Ritter Annex Building and five floors of Ritter Hall.  The retrofit consisted of removing ballast and lamps and replacing them with more high efficiency types, while also relamping existing incandescent fixtures with screw type fluorescent lamps.  The lighting control portion consisted of removing standard single pole switches and replacing them with occupancy sensors.  The larger classrooms and offices are controlled by 360 degree ceiling infrared mount sensor.
