New Jersey Offices receives the Governor’s Citation of Merit Award

The State of New Jersey recognized the Hatzel & Buehler New Jersey Office, at the 90th Annual Governor’s Occupational Safety and Health Awards Dinner. The New Jersey Office received the “Governor’s Citation of Merit Award”, which recognized the branch for working 344,776 work-hours without lost time from a work-related injury or illness during the 2017 calendar year. Hatzel & Buehler’s New Jersey office is committed to continuing this same safe-work approach into the 2018 calendar year.

New York Office provides city-mandated Fire Alarm upgrades

In accordance with New York City’s Local Law 26 (a law designed to ensure proper fire protection measures are implemented throughout city buildings) Hatzel & Buehler’s New York Office will upgrade the electrical and fire alarm systems, throughout Verizon’s mid-town Manhattan Office Building.  Such upgrades will be performed through the use of VESDA  (very early smoke detection apparatus) and the upgrade of the regular fire alarm system, by providing it with Dual Electrical Feeds.

New York Office installs ARC System throughout 3 World Trade Center

Hatzel & Buehler will complete the installation of an Auxiliary Radio Communications System (ARCS) throughout 3 World Trade Center.  This system will be for use by New York City’s Fire Department (FDNY), as required by New York City Building Code. The system is a wireless two-way building communication system for FDNY use only to receive and transmit FDNY portable radio frequencies within the building.

Hatzel & Buehler’s scope of work will include the installation of all coaxial cable conduit, couplers, splitters, fiber optic cable, and antennas to cover 97% of the building as required by the FDNY.  Hatzel & Buehler Electricians will also install all passive components in two equipment rooms and install vertical risers to distribute Radio Frequency signals throughout the building.  Lastly, Hatzel & Buehler will install FDNY consoles and connect to equipment rooms and the building fire alarm system.

Philadelphia office completes electrical installation for Radian Guaranty, Inc.

Hatzel & Buehler completed six floors of tenant fit-out work for the relocation of Radian Guaranty, Inc. to Centre Square in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Throughout the 150,000 square foot project, Hatzel & Buehler’s overall scope of work included the installation of all new lighting, lighting controls, power, fire alarm and security systems.

With 1.6 million man hours worked in 2017, Hatzel & Buehler and Bluestone Communications proudly ended the year with zero lost time injuries.  Leveraging our multi-tiered safety team – functioning at the corporate, branch and field levels –  Hatzel & Buehler and Bluestone Communications’ TRIR (Total Recordable Incident Rate) continues to be significantly less than the Electrical Industry standard.

Philadelphia Office awarded contract for Aramark’s Headquarters’ Relocation

The Hatzel & Buehler Philadelphia Office was awarded the contract for the relocation of Aramark’s Headquarters, located at 2400 Market Street, in Philadelphia.  Hatzel & Buehler will fit-out 270,000 square feet of office space (throughout 5 floors) with new branch wiring, lighting and lighting control systems, distribution panels, a UPS system, a fire alarm system, and cable tray & tele/data pathways.

Michigan Office awarded large project with Marathon Petroleum Company

Marathon Petroleum Company has awarded the Hatzel & Buehler Michigan Office with the electrical and instrumentation contract for their new liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) rail loading project. The project is located in their Melvindale Tank Farm. This will allow Marathon to meet the growing demand of their customers. This is a complex project and includes most of the major systems that are involved in an oil refinery project. The new power infrastructure will be a 5kV feed ran 1,200’ feet from the new MPS substation that Hatzel & Buehler installed in the summer of 2016. 480V and 120V power /control cables will then be distributed to motors and other devices via cable tray. This will all be controlled through a new instrument infrastructure system along with SIS instruments. Additionally the project will consist of heat trace, a new compressor building, lighting, H2S/LEL detectors and emergency shut down systems.

Hatzel & Buehler awarded ENR’s 2017 MidAtlantic Specialty Contractor of the Year

Hatzel & Buehler was selected as ENR MidAtlantic’s Specialty Contractor of the Year.

The oldest electrical contractor operating in the United States had a 6% revenue increase in the MidAtlantic from 2015 to 2016 and a 15% revenue increase between 2014-2015. The firm credits its recent successes to its geographic growth into new markets, an increase in customer spending and an enhanced focus on business development.

The Wilmington, Del.-based firm has six offices in the MidAtlantic region. In those offices, they have 600 union employees and 100 nonunion employees. The firm’s West Virginia office recently received special recognition from the National Electrical Contractors Association for excellence in safety.

Recent and ongoing work in the region includes infrastructure upgrades at the Nemours Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, an expansion at Chester County Hospital in West Chester, Pa. and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s Central Utility Plant.

The firm’s largest corporate charity is a foundation that raises money for pediatric cancer, the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. In partnership with the American Red Cross, Hatzel & Buehler is also matching every dollar its employees donate to families impacted by Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma.

The firm will be honored at the Nov. 2 Best Project’s event in Baltimore and featured in the December issue of ENR MidAtlantic. The December issue will also feature the entire list of the top-ranked specialty contractors based on 2016 revenue. The 30 participating firms in this year’s survey are from Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia. They have collected a total of $3 billion in revenue, up from the the $2.4 billion that the 18 firms in last year’s survey reported.
