The Hatzel & Buehler Philadelphia Office was awarded the contract for the relocation of Aramark’s Headquarters, located at 2400 Market Street, in Philadelphia. Hatzel & Buehler will fit-out 270,000 square feet of office space (throughout 5 floors) with new branch wiring, lighting and lighting control systems, distribution panels, a UPS system, a fire alarm system, and cable tray & tele/data pathways.
Marathon Petroleum Company has awarded the Hatzel & Buehler Michigan Office with the electrical and instrumentation contract for their new liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) rail loading project. The project is located in their Melvindale Tank Farm. This will allow Marathon to meet the growing demand of their customers. This is a complex project and includes most of the major systems that are involved in an oil refinery project. The new power infrastructure will be a 5kV feed ran 1,200’ feet from the new MPS substation that Hatzel & Buehler installed in the summer of 2016. 480V and 120V power /control cables will then be distributed to motors and other devices via cable tray. This will all be controlled through a new instrument infrastructure system along with SIS instruments. Additionally the project will consist of heat trace, a new compressor building, lighting, H2S/LEL detectors and emergency shut down systems.

The oldest electrical contractor operating in the United States had a 6% revenue increase in the MidAtlantic from 2015 to 2016 and a 15% revenue increase between 2014-2015. The firm credits its recent successes to its geographic growth into new markets, an increase in customer spending and an enhanced focus on business development.
The Wilmington, Del.-based firm has six offices in the MidAtlantic region. In those offices, they have 600 union employees and 100 nonunion employees. The firm’s West Virginia office recently received special recognition from the National Electrical Contractors Association for excellence in safety.
Recent and ongoing work in the region includes infrastructure upgrades at the Nemours Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, an expansion at Chester County Hospital in West Chester, Pa. and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s Central Utility Plant.
The firm’s largest corporate charity is a foundation that raises money for pediatric cancer, the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. In partnership with the American Red Cross, Hatzel & Buehler is also matching every dollar its employees donate to families impacted by Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma.
The firm will be honored at the Nov. 2 Best Project’s event in Baltimore and featured in the December issue of ENR MidAtlantic. The December issue will also feature the entire list of the top-ranked specialty contractors based on 2016 revenue. The 30 participating firms in this year’s survey are from Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia. They have collected a total of $3 billion in revenue, up from the the $2.4 billion that the 18 firms in last year’s survey reported.

Hatzel & Buehler began their relationship with Chester County Hospital in 2012, with the construction of a new 93,000 square foot patient tower. As Chester County Hospital celebrates 125 years of service, it is also embarking on its largest expansion. When the expansion is completed, the hospital will gain 250,000 square feet of space, including a beautiful new main entrance and Emergency Department with ten additional rooms and support space. In addition, fifteen modern/hybrid operating rooms, four high-tech labs, areas for non-invasive cardiology and pre-admission space will all be included in the new construction. The new space will be supported with a new 35kV electrical service distribution system that will back feed the hospital’s existing electrical distribution and supply power to a new 1500kVA duel ended substation. This will be backed up by a new 2Meg diesel generator that will take care of the critical and life safety power for this expansion. For smooth transition of power Hatzel & Buehler will be adding a 500kW Flywheel UPS to the critical isolation panels in the ORs.
Hatzel & Buehler was selected as the electrical contractor for the new Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) Test Track at the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant, in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Fiat Chrysler is investing over $1 Billion into the assembly plant. This plant will test the functionality of the new Dodge Ram trucks before they are sent to market. Hatzel & Buehler’s overall scope of work includes lighting, power distribution, fire alarm, gas detection and heat tracing.
Hatzel & Buehler opened their local Michigan office in 1922 in an effort to provide electrical services to the emerging automotive industry. The local office quickly established relationships with the Ford Motor Company, General Motors Corporation and the Chrysler Corporation, with large scale project work quickly following and continuing throughout the mid 1900’s.
The Hatzel & Buehler Cleveland Office received the electrical and signal contract for a new Rapid Transit Station on East 34th Street, servicing multiple train and bus lines.
The Villanova University Conference Center is situated in a 32-acre woodland setting just minutes from the Villanova University campus. Created specifically for executive training, the center offers a learning environment with the added benefits of guest accommodations, dining and recreational activities.
The scope of work for Hatzel & Buehler on this project includes the renovations to the Conference Center’s guest rooms, conference rooms, classrooms and common areas. The facility will also house a fitness Center, a game room and a Ballroom for weddings and banquets. The facility will be upgraded with new LED lighting, a lighting control system, a new fire alarm system, and Audio Visual systems utilizing the latest technology.
The University of Michigan will construct a new 297,000 square foot health center – The Brighton Heath Center South. The new facility will include adult and pediatric specialty care, infusion, a comprehensive musculoskeletal center, sleep lab, ambulatory diagnostic and treatment center, radiation oncology, operating rooms, medical procedure unit, pharmacy, radiology, and lab services.

She is among the top 5% of volunteers in New York City, nominated for this special recognition (out of 3,200 recognized volunteers).
Hatzel & Buehler’s Pittsburgh Office was recently awarded multiple contracts with the University of Pittsburgh’s Medical Center. Overall project scope includes the upgrade of electrical generators at four senior living communities. Hatzel & Buehler will upgrade and retrofit the emergency power systems (transfer switches and distribution systems).
The Pittsburgh Office will also complete renovation work throughout the McKeesport location. Electricians will upgrade the main power distribution, branch circuits, lighting, fire alarm and data throughout the multi-story complex.
